Opening of schools in Tamil Nadu is uncertain due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Online classes and through Kalvi TV are the options provided by TN Government, which, unfortunately, are not viable for students in rural areas.
Faced with what appears to be an indomitable challenge, TNF teachers resorted to conducting classes to Government school students (ABC & Non-ABC) in common, ventilated places accessing smart phones, laptops and TV, without compromising none of the prescribed safety guidelines.
Currently, on a trial basis, this program has been implemented in Tuticorin,Thenkasi, Mayiladuthurai, Namakkal, Salem, Sivagangai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Ranipet and Cuddalore Districts. So far 46 teachers in 10 districts are engaged in this program benefitting 719 of students.

TNF sponsored, first of its kind, Online Musical concert on August 23. Kalaimamani Mano, Playback singers Mukesh, Surmuki and Colors Tamil TV Singing Star Fame Madhan’s Band gave an energetic performance catering to requests of listeners.
Response and attendance to the virtual event was unprecedented, with TNF supporters from around the world -- India, Ireland, Canada and Scotland, to name a few.
Number of live viewers were in excess of 1100. There are 11,000 + viewers on Facebook and YouTube combined, and growing.
In response to the appeal made during the concert, we are extremely glad to inform you that contributions made to-date to support ABC program is around $ 60,000, which will undoubtedly help us with our noble cause.
As you can very well understand, the underserved kids are disproportionately affected by the pandemic; we need to continue our efforts and we need your continued financial support.
We wish to recognize our local chapters who tirelessly worked in reaching out to their respective community members and encourage them to partake in the virtual event and donate generously.
