Inviting TAYMAI grant applications from Youth
|
TNF's Young Professionals Committee is now accepting applications for 2022's TAYMAI Grant. This grant of $500 - $1500 is given by TNF USA Board to youth who present a winning philanthropic project that upholds the principles of TNF. The youth will present their project to the Young Professionals Committee, who will select 3 winners.
Our goal is to generate more interest and participation from youth and young adults to design/implement projects to help communities in Tamil Nadu.

- Digital classroom has been functional since the reopening of School. Currently, the digital class room is used by 322 students of 6th, 7th and 11th grade.
- At Govt. Hr Sec School, Arumbakkam, Chennai, a total of 478 students have used the digital classroom to take online assessment tests conducted by the School Education Department.
- TNF handed over the following medical equiments to the Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in remote hilly area T. Oranally in Nilgris district and a remote rural village, Sengattupatty in Thiruchirapalli district.

- The schools have re-opened after the Covid pandemic lockdown with effect from February 1st, 2022. TNF redrafted the ABC project teachers to conduct classes from 6th to 9th grade. As of now, 4576 students across 69 schools are attending the ABC project classes.
- A total of 4077 students in 15 Government schools have attended soft skill training.
- College exposure visit is a significant part of ABC project for High School students. Due to pandemic, TNF decided to conduct an "Orientation program on Career Guidance" instead. A team of senior faculty members from reputed higher education institutions in the respective districts were invited to provide orientation for students. A total of 343 students across 3 schools benefitted by the program. Our plan is to continue with this program in the remaining ABC schools in the coming week.

Our YOX (Youth Online Xchange) program is underway, as our youth volunteers continue to engage with students from Tamilnadu via online sessions.

Thank you Austin Tamil Sangam (ATS)
TNF would like to thank ATS and its members for generously donating funds for procuring Smart Boards for Coimbatore District ABC Schools. Our Austin chapter worked with ATS to make this happen. Several studies have determined that smart boards in classrooms raise test scores, improve learning experience, enhance literacy, boost attentiveness and increase comprehension. With the help of ATS, we will be deploying smart boards to four ABC schools and hope that it proves the studies true.
We have worked with Kansas City, Indy, and Georgia Tamil Sangams among others on some key project initiatives in the past and we are grateful to ATS joining hands with TNF for empowering underserved government school students of Tamil Nadu. We hope this partnership continues to develop into other initiatives as well.
