President's Remarks - Giving as Liberation
|
|
Dear TNF Family,
As we welcome a new year, I find myself reflecting on the deeper meaning of Eegai — giving not merely as charity, but as an expression of shared humanity and shared purpose.
Through TNF, I have been blessed to meet noble-minded people whose kindness and commitment to service inspire me every day. Being connected with such individuals brings me fulfillment; giving becomes something that nourishes my soul. At the same time, I am constantly mindful of the lives we touch. Every scholarship, every project, every opportunity we create opens a path for someone else — and in that exchange, both the giver and the beneficiary are uplifted. That is the true liberation Eegai offers: a shared journey toward possibility.
A powerful reminder by Aboriginal activist Lilla Watson captures this truth beautifully:
“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time.
But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine,
then let us work together.”
This is the essence of TNF. Our progress and purpose are intertwined. Every act of giving becomes a bridge that strengthens communities and shapes a future rooted in compassion.\
As we step into this new year, let us carry this spirit forward and continue to uplift one another.
Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, and meaningful New Year!
Mani Periakaruppan
President, Tamil Nadu Foundation USA

Women's Day success makes a difference
|
|
TNF Chicago’s Women’s Day 2025 event has made a meaningful impact on the lives of visually impaired youth. With the generous support of sponsors, vendors, and attendees, the funds raised were used to host a specialized Health & Hygiene Awareness program.
The program, led by experts in clinical genetics, gynecology, and psychology, provided essential health education and practical guidance tailored to the unique needs of these young individuals.
To further promote independence and dignity, participants received Braille books on health and hygiene along with white mobility canes—important resources that support healthier, more confident living.
This initiative reflects the powerful impact of collective community support. TNF Chicago remains committed to expanding these programs across Tamil Nadu, reaching more girls and youth in need. With continued partnership, we look forward to creating lasting change and brighter futures.
