Dear Donors and Patrons,
Your ongoing support is essential for TNF’s growth and expansion, enabling us to reach more beneficiaries. Beyond financial contributions and volunteer efforts, attending our annual convention is a wonderful way to uplift the spirits of the many volunteers who dedicate countless hours to the cause you believe in. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to join us for Convention on a Cruise. Following the success of our Golden Jubilee, which focused on celebrating our achievements and planning for the future, TNF51 will offer a chance to reconnect and exchange ideas about what lies ahead. Spending time with like-minded individuals is an enriching experience, and I warmly invite you to join us at https://tnfusa.org/2025-convention/.
In the past couple of weeks, you should have received two important communications from us. The first concerns an amendment to our bylaws, which are key to our growth and expanding our impact within our communities. We encourage you to take a moment to review the proposed changes and cast your vote. Your input is invaluable, as it helps ensure we’re heading in the right direction.
After serving as President for the past two years, it's time for me to pass the baton. Many of our board members will also be completing their terms this year. We will be transitioning to a new board in the summer and are now seeking nominations for these positions. The second communication you received invites you to submit nominations. If you're interested in serving on the board, we encourage you to apply.
Spring is just around the corner, and that means local chapters will soon begin hosting their annual events and activities. We encourage you to join these events and bring along a friend or two to introduce them to TNF. If you haven’t yet become a life member, we invite you to consider it. As a life member, your commitment to the cause will be evident when you speak to others. Our goal is to continue growing our membership, which reflects our shared dedication and passion for this cause.
Warm regards,
Veera Venugopal
President, TNF USA

TAYMAI grant project to help students prepare for exams
|
|
A 2024 TAYMAI Grant winning idea to help students with exam preparatory books was implemented earlier this month. The project ideated by Suvali Giridharan of Munster, IN was implemented at Visalakshi Mills High School, Madurai. The grant money in addition to the funds raised by Suvali were used to procure books worth ₹ 78301/- for students who are preparing for NMMS examination.
TAYMAI (Tamil American Youth Making An Impact) grant is an annual contest run by Young Adults & Emerging Professionals inviting project ideas from high schoolers who served as summer interns. The contestants get to submit a proposal, appear for an interview by a panel and make a pitch for their idea, to win grant money ranging from $500 to $1500 for project implementation.
Congratulations to Suvali for identifying the need and ideating the project which though sounds simple is expected to bridge the gap that exists for the students in the exams.

Project RISHI co-sponsors ABC project
|
When the undergraduate students from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), who are part of Project RISHI (Rural India Social and Health Improvement) looked for a program that would help the students of Vadamanapakkam Higher Secondary School, TNF became their natural choice. Thanks to the success of ABC project across many Schools, the representatives of RISHI saw TNF's ABC project as the solution to help students facing challenges due to the pandemic impact in terms of academics and discipline. With recommendation from the School Headmaster who has witnessed ABC's impact in his previous school, RISHI team reached out to co-sponsor the ABC project at the School. The project was officially launched recently and the early results are promising. This engagement by RISHI is a great example of how second generation Indian Americans are stepping up to make a difference in their ancestral land.

Project RISHI 2024 Members of the team Sruthi Rangarajan, Shreya Sundar, and Sanjana Narayanan met TNF Project Coordinator Mr. Sridhar and Headmaster Mr Vedhapuri and the newly appointed TNF teacher during their field trip.

Summer Internship applications open
|
Each summer, many high school students visiting India take the opportunity to serve as interns at TNF's ABC schools. This year, we plan to expand this offering beyond the ABC schools, where possible. Applications for the 2025 summer internship are now open.
For more information about the internship, please visit the TNF Internship Overview and apply through the TNF Summer Internship 2025 Application. We often receive requests to customize the program, and while we understand the logistical challenges of planning a trip to India, we kindly ask for your understanding and flexibility, as there are also logistical challenges on the facilitator's end.
