President's Remarks - Behind Every Number, a Story

Dear TNF Family,

Vanakkam!

One TNF

TNF is powered by people working in many different places and in many ways. Our
chapter volunteers bring communities together across the United States, contributing their
time, ideas, and expertise. Our donors make our programs possible. Our Chennai team
works every day to turn that generosity into meaningful impact on the ground, while our
trustees provide the governance and guidance that help keep our work focused on TNF’s
mission. We may be separated by cities, chapters, committees, and thousands of miles, but
we are connected by one purpose—to create opportunities and transform lives. Different
roles, different locations, but one shared mission.

As I prepare to spend time in Tamil Nadu meeting with our trustees, Chennai team,
and others connected with our work, I am reminded of how important it is that we continue
strengthening these connections. One TNF does not mean that we all have to work the
same way. Our chapters should continue to bring their own energy, ideas, and local
connections; our donors should continue to find meaningful ways to contribute; our
Chennai team should bring its experience from working closely with our projects and
beneficiaries; and our trustees should continue to provide guidance and oversight. But
across all these roles, we must communicate openly, share what we learn, strengthen
transparency, and build systems and processes that connect us rather than separate us.
When we work together and learn from one another, the entire organization becomes
stronger.

Ultimately, the people we serve should experience only one organization—TNF. A
student receiving a scholarship may not see the chapter that raised the funds, the
committees that worked behind the scenes, or the many individuals who helped make it
possible. They experience an opportunity that can change the course of their life. Likewise,
our donors and supporters should see an organization that is connected, transparent, and
united around its mission. That is the TNF we must continue to build—one where our
individual strengths come together to create a collective impact far greater than any of us
can achieve alone.

Different locations. Different roles. Different perspectives. One mission. One TNF.

With gratitude,
Mani Periakaruppan
President, Tamil Nadu Foundation USA
