TNF youth raising funds for ABC Schools in Tamil Nadu

TNF Youth Darasana Alagarsamy, with the help of her friend Katrina Manalang, are raising funds for the   Thirumalapuram Higher Secondary School,  TNF ABC School in Tenkasi.  Read about Darsana and her project here.

TNF Intern Keerthana Ravi Shankar has completed the Enrichment in Education white Board project at Besant Theosophical School in Chennai. She is raising funds for Arts supplies for the ART Club at the school. Read about Keethana Ravi Shankar's project here.

The involvement of the American-born Tamil Youth to help the underserved children in Tamil Nadu is very heartwarming and gives hope that the mission of TNF will continue for years to come.

TNF’s Other Projects

Helping visually impaired children and orphaned children of convicted parents
TNF Dallas Chapter has raised funds for the renovation of the classroom, construction of security room and the main gate work in Government Higher Secondary School for the visually impaired at Poonamallee.  

The chapter also raised funds for the children of convicted parents studying in the Mahatma Gandhi Primary and High School in Sriperumbudur, and Dr. J.C.Kumarappa ITI Sriperumbudur. 

Distribution of school bags – 150 orphaned school students were given school bags on during Christmas Day supported by SITES Manickam Educational Project.

TNF Past President Thiru. M. Nalluswami

With deep regret, we share the news about the demise of TNF Past President Thiru. M. Nalluswami passed away on December 19th, 2020. He served as  President of Tamil Nadu Foundation, from1987 to 1988.  Dr. Nalluswami joined TNF in the mid-1970s and he helped to increase awareness and membership in TNF, including in the states of Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. Dr. Nalluswami helped to organize the TNF Annual Meeting in May 1987, conducted in the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  The theme of the conference was “Future Directions of TNF” and the Chief Guests included Ministers from the Government of India.
 
Dr. Nalluswami was a pioneer, from a remote village in Tamil Nadu, being the first in his region to become educated as an engineer. After high school in Namakkal, he continued his intermediate education in Madras and completed his engineering studies successively at Government College of Technology, Guindy Engineering College, and Colorado State University.  His career in civil engineering spanned 5 decades and included academic teaching, private industry, private practice, and government service. 
 
TNF is grateful for the many contributions by Dr. Nalluswami.
