2022 began with the world continuing to recover from the pandemic and dealing with challenges never seen before. As students returned to Schools across Tamil Nadu, the knowledge gap that many of them faced became a challenge for Teachers. Thanks to ABC teachers who kept their work going in informal settings, ABC students for the most part did not miss a beat. However, the enrollment of new students to ABC project grew demanding more from us. TNF donors, well-wishers and volunteers rose to the occasion to support the cause.
On behalf of board members, volunteers and beneficiaries I thank each one of you for your continued support. We wrapped up 2022 on a great note hosting a successful online musical feast and thanks to everyone who supported with open hearts and made the fund raiser a successful one.
I look forward to your support in 2023 as we get ready for our 49th convention on a cruise.
Happy New Year to you all!

Nutritional Supplement helps students focus

Soon after the launch of TNF's nutritional supplement project, TNF donors rallied to support 11 schools that were selected for the first phase. A total of 606 students in 6th grade start their day healthy. Feedback received from teachers and students is very encouraging and we are exploring options to expand the reach beyond 6th grade.

Uniforms distributed to deserving students
|
While elementary and middle school students of Government and Government-aided Schools receive four sets of uniform provided by Government of Tamil Nadu in partnership with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, high school students have to find their own means to buy uniforms. Many students from economically backward families drop out of school because their families cannot provide for the uniforms.
Tamil Nadu foundation works with the head masters of the Schools to identify such students and help them bridge the gap. During this month, a total of 47 students from Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Thiruthuraipoondi and Guruvarajapet received uniforms.
In addition, a sum of ₹ 1,14,000 was provided to supply uniforms to 90 students and 15 teachers of Special School for Intellectually Challenged at Sirkazhi.
