President's Remarks

Dear Donors and Patrons,

I hope everyone is doing well. I am very happy to share with you all the news about our recent developments and achievements.

After a year of dedicated efforts by our volunteers, I am delighted to announce the successful
completion of our Golden Jubilee event in Chicago. This milestone would not have been possible
without the invaluable contributions of hundreds of volunteers, the generous support of our
donors like you, and the backing of our corporate sponsors. Your belief in TNF’s mission and
unwavering support have truly made a difference.

I would like to take this opportunity to share our vision for future enhancements at TNF. We are launching the second chapter of empowering youth within our organization. This initiative aims
to empower youth leaders to organize their own events, contributing to fundraising efforts for
local and Tamil Nadu causes. This approach not only fosters leadership skills but also strengthens our impact on the community.

Furthermore, we are actively working on enhancing our organizational structure. The current national board is focusing on revising our by-laws to support local charities based on the choices and needs of individual chapters. Additionally, we are introducing new leadership to better support our chapters in Tamil Nadu, ensuring that our efforts are impactful and sustainable.

As we look forward to the future, we count on your continued support and partnership. Your
contributions are vital in moving our organization towards its next century of service and impact.

Together, we can continue to serve our community with dedication and excellence.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support and for entrusting us with
the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our community. Thank you for believing in
our mission and joining us on this journey.

Warm regards,
Veera Venugopal, President, TNF USA

High School Prompts (9-12th Grade)

You are tasked to develop a strategy to continue TNF’s legacy for the next 50 years. What would your strategy be? Reference specific examples from TNF’s work over the past 50 years that support the success of your strategy, and be specific in the steps you would take.

Discuss the role of how youth can engage in volunteering and community service. How can organizations like TNF empower you to make a difference?

Middle School Prompts (6-8th Grade)

If you were given $5,000 in funds, and you were required to spend it to help your local community (does not have to be TNF-related), how would you use the money? How do you think this would impact your community in the future?

If you could teach members in your community about any topic that you don’t learn about in school, what would you teach and why?

Elementary School Prompts ( 1-5th Grade)

Explain one experience where you helped your community. What impact did this have?

What does a leader do for their community?

TNF Interns spend summer in classrooms & genetics lab

As schools in USA close for summer holidays, the schools in India re-opens after the holidays. This provides a great opportunity for rising high schoolers from USA to spend a couple of weeks at an ABC school. For the past decade, many youth have spent time at these schools experiencing the life of a student in India while doing an internship. In addition, students interested in pursuing Science in higher education get an opportunity to spend a week at Center for Medical Genetics, learning about the research and working in the lab.

While a handful of students have completed their internship during June, the first scheduled batch of students are set to begin tomorrow. We wish them all Good Luck on their internship!

ABC Project - Steps into another year

As the schools re-opened, TNF swung into action to conduct baseline tests. A few facts about the beginning of a new ABC year:
  • A total of 11257 students from grade 6 through 9 have taken the baseline tests.
  • Baseline tests were conducted in 97 schools across Tamil Nadu
  • 138 teachers will be engaged with ABC program this year across 28 districts.
We have received requests from new schools to implement ABC projects. If you would like to sponsor an ABC project, please write to vpprojects@tnfusa.org

I want to become a TNF member!

Are you a high schooler in South FL?

TNF Youth LOVES group members have been making a great impact across many chapters in USA. In addition to volunteering at and driving chapter activities, they give back to their local communities. The projects they undertake give them an opportunity to learn/practice leadership skills and serve the community. These efforts turn into volunteering hours qualifying many of our youngsters to receive the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

TNF Youth LOVES initiative is ready to spread its wings in the sunshine state of Florida. If your child is a high schooler or you know someone who is, ask them to register and be part of a group that loves to make a difference. Register: https://tinyurl.com/sftnf
