President's Remarks

The TNF journey is progressing well as we continue making strides in our ABC program by adding more schools to the program.  Our upskilling endeavors for our current teachers concluded before the start of school year. This will equip them well to educate the students based on the latest curriculum updates for this year.

As you are aware, we are in the midst of our annual fund raising events. Most of our chapters are planning various events. Please join these events and support us in all ways which will give us some momentum going into year 2024.

On October 7th we will be hosting a grand kickoff event in Chicago. The fliers for the event are attached. We invite you to join us with family and friends to attend this event.

Our team of volunteers are coming together and we could use support from more volunteers. Do reach out to us if you are willing to volunteer, email us to president@tnfusa.org.

The school year has begun for all the US students and here’s wishing good luck to all of them.

Charity and Service have been part of our Director of Youth Mannar Dhandapani's life, since his young age. Right from his middle school enabling his cricket club turn into a sports-cum-service club to serving on TNF USA board, he has touched many lives through several organizations across India and USA in various roles. He served on the committee that developed India Cultural Garden and installed Mahatma Gandhi Statue in Cleveland, Ohio. His recent works include coaching youngsters to develop public speaking and leadership skills as part of Toastmasters International and co-founding Thamizhosai, a non-profit to promote the use of Tamil in our households.
"During Columbus convention, I learnt how TNF solved the typical logistical and accountability challenges of a non-profit such as ours back in 80's and I knew my next chapter serving the mankind should be written in TNF”, says Mannar who currently focuses on empowering and engaging youth through our TNF Youth LOVES efforts and coaching young professionals committee to be tomorrow’s leaders. He also serves as an editor of our monthly newsletter, Eegai.

Chicago set to kick off Golden Jubilee year celebrations

TNF caught the attention of thousands of spectators along the India day Parade with more than 100 TNF women draped in uniform sarees walked/danced in the parade. The event kicked off the awareness campaign about the upcoming Golden Jubilee celebrations amongst the Chicago community.
The official kick off event for the Golden Jubilee convention will be held on October 7th 2023 at Yellow Box, Naperville IL. Attendees will get a Chicago-style double treat. (see flier in upcoming chapter events)

NY brings digital learning to Vellore ABC schools

Digital learning plays a critical component in students growth in the recent times, yet the facility is out of reach for many. Thanks to Mr Roopak and his son Mr Dilan from New York chapter who came forward to change it in the three ABC schools in Vellore district and set an example.

Each ABC school supported by New York chapter in Vellore district received 10 nos of chrome books along with headphones and speakers. This project help establish digital class rooms in the schools. Mr Roopak, who not only opened his heart but also provided his personal time, effort and expertise in procuring/setting up the computers, on completion of the project, said "It It was overwhelming in so many ways, it's changed us forever, hard to convey the emotions".

The first of its kind project took a lot of effort from many, but the seamless coordination amongst the donors, NY chapter committee, TNF USA Board and TNF Chennai made it possible. We hope this will be beginning of helping all the ABC schools get digital classrooms.

North East Ohio rocks with its first fundraiser walkathon!

Much like the 90's soundtrack Cleveland Rocks, TNF North East Ohio (Cleveland, Akron & Canton) chapter created a new track North East Ohio Rocks during its first fundraiser walkathon. 100+ supporters came together for the first time to celebrate the chapter's successful journey so far and addition of a new School at Arasangudi, Trichy to its portfolio. The Mayor of City of Richfield Michael Wheeler flagged off the walk, awarded Presidential Volunteer Service Awards to the Youth LOVES kids and recognized the summer interns who served in Chennai during summer. The attendees enjoyed a traditional breakfast while opening their hearts to  help ABC project.

Filter coffee to Nannari sherbet treats Central Ohio Walkers

The funds raised will continue to support ABC projects at six schools in Nagapttinam district. The event was filled with information sharing and youth activities.
