Thank you & Congratulations on stepping into Golden Jubilee Year!
|
Today marks the end of my term as President of TNF and a new board of directors will be taking charge starting tomorrow. The past two years have been unusual ones with situations never seen before. With the the help of my fellow board members and support from all of you, TNF kept going and we continued to make an impact in TNF style during the pandemic. I am grateful for this opportunity. On behalf of the outgoing board, I congratulate the new board members and I am confident that they will make the Golden Jubilee year of TNF, a special one.
This past weekend, we hosted our 49th Annual convention and general body meeting on a cruise ship. Many TNF families across USA joined us. Amidst the fun, we had an overwhelming support for TNF activities. As we disembarked the ship, we all shared the same pride of being associated with such a great organization which has paved ways for thousands of NRI Tamilians give back to our dear motherland.
TNF enters its golden jubilee year and we will be hosting our 50th Annual convention at Chicago in 2024, under the leadership of incoming President Mr Veera Venugopal and the new board members. I congratulate them for a successful term and Let's Go Chicago!

Let's look back at a successful ABC year
|
In less than a week, students across Tamil Nadu will be returning to School after their summer break. TNF Chennai office will be buzzing with lots of activities as ABC program will begin another year of making impact. Let us take a pause and reflect upon ABC (Academic Bridge Course) success thus far.
ABC began as a pilot project at Sivagangai district in 2011. Encouraging results during the pilot phase soon made ABC, a flagship project of TNF. A total of 68,378 students have benefitted in the past 12 years across 27 districts.
Exam results of 10th, 11th and 12th grades published recently show the difference ABC has made in student's performances. Many schools reported 100% pass result (details below). Amongst the 543 students who cleared these examinations, a remarkable achievement worth noting is that of Selvi K Mahalakshmi. She was identified as a slow learner during 2016-17 at TPU Middle school, Vadugapatti. She was coached under our ABC project. Later, she joined Sathappa Govt Higher Secondary School, Nerkuppai. In the recently held 12th grade exams, she scored 502 marks out of 600 and emerged as a school topper. Mahalakshmi's story is just one of the many success stories. Thank you to all ABC donors who help to create these success stories.
During the month of June, baseline tests will be conducted in 90 schools across 27 districts where we will evaluate a total of 8376 students to identify slow learners who could benefit from TNF's ABC initiative.

It is with deep sadness and heavy heart that we inform you of the death of our former president Dr. Subramaniam Palanisamy, M.D. Dr. Palanisamy lived in Pittsburgh for several decades and ran two successful conventions (1997 and 2008). The 2008 convention paved the way for board sponsored education initiatives which eventually turned into our flagship ABC project. He is survived by his wife Renuka Palanisamy, son Sridhar Palanisamy, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the South Florida Chapter of TNF.
